This is a nice bilingual book in Spanish and English, which tells the classic story of the ugly duckling. When the new ducklings hatch everyone is excited to see the cute little ones. But they are not happy to see the one different "ugly" duckling. Soon the other ducklings ask him to go away, claiming that, "You don't look like us!" The ugly duckling sadly leaves, and is ashamed because he is different. Soon afterwards he finds his true family in a group of beautiful white swans, who ask him to join their family. This would be a good book to use when discussing with children how it feels to be different. Although this tells a classic tale with a happy ending, the moral in this version seems to focus more on finding a place to be happy with people who are similar, rather than accepting all people regardless of who they are.
